Pairing: Nikaido x Senga
Disclaimer: I do not own them.
Prompt: 24. 5 confessions Nikaido received
I growled in frustration and all but tipped my bag on its end. Where is it? I know I had it in here the other day! I didn't dare leave it out at home in case someone stumbled upon it. Shoes. Sneakers. Socks. T-shirt. More socks. Water bottle. Towel. Pants. Notepad. Bandaids.... it wasn't here. It was gone.
My lube was gone.
I racked my brain. Where had I left it. I could have sworn I put it back after the last time I used it.
I bit back a scream of frustration and settled on throwing my now empty bag across the dressing room floor. It landed with dull thunk against the wall three feet from where I crouched in front of the lockers. I sat heavily on the floor and spread my legs in front of me and surveyed the mess I had made.
I figured, if someone else found it I could just deny, deny, deny that it was mine. No one would know. It wasn't like it had my name on it or anything.
Three days later.
I looked up impassively. Miyata was holding out something to me. I took it without looking and then almost dropped it when I felt the familiar weight of the cylindrical tube. I thought about handing it back and saying it wasn't mine but Miyata spoke instead.
"I took it. I'm sorry. I bought you a new one."
I looked down in surprise. The tube was brand new, still in its packaging.
"I shouldn't have taken it but...."
"No!" I held up a hand. "Don't tell me anymore. I do not want to know."
Miyata just scratched the back of his head and gave me an embarrassed sort of a smile. It was the first time I have ever seen that sort of emotion on his face.
"I don't want to know anything about anything that has to do with you and lube. Anything of any kind...I don't want to know."
Miyata just grinned.
I already knew too much.
I looked up from my phone to see a shaggy mass of black locks. I frowned in confusion and reached out to tilt the head back so I could see who it was. I recognized the face but the name eluded me.
I watched as the chibi avoided my gaze and wrung his hands together. He seemed so nervous. I couldn’t fathom why.
“I like you.”
I blinked. And then I blinked again. My jaw dropped open. So, that was not what I was expecting at all. I gathered my wits; the boy was still standing there. I admired his courage.
“Do you want my answer?”
There was hesitation but the nod eventually came.
“I can’t accept your feelings. I’m sorry.”
I watched in something akin to horror as tears started to well in his eyes.
“Don’t cry now,” I reached into my pocket and pulled out a clean handkerchief and held it out to him. “How about we be friends?”
The chibi glanced up through tear clumped lashes and braved a small smile. I grinned at him and sent him on his way. As soon as he disappeared from sight I slumped in my chair and sighed.
Now I just need to find out his name.
It was later that same afternoon after practice. I thought everyone had already gone home, so naturally I was surprised when I felt someone watching me. I ignored the feeling for a while but it just wouldn’t go away. I heaved a sigh and looked up.
Tamamori was staring at me from the other side of the dressing room. I raised an eyebrow. He seemed to take that as an invitation to come closer. Only when he came to a stop in front of my feet did he talk.
“Uh…Nika… You know when you misplaced your lube?”
“Yes.” It wasn’t misplaced, it had been stolen.
“And then you told us that you had better not find out about anything else that happened that was untoward.”
“Yes,” I was getting suspicious. I only told Miyata that. Where was he going with all this?
“Well I just can’t lie anymore.”
I think my eye brows just about shot up past my hair line.
“I…we….Miyata and I….we…” He glanced at the couch.
“Oh! Hell no!!”
I scrambled off the couch in a flurry of limbs, unsuccessfully avoided tripping over my own feet.
“You…you didn’t!” I managed to splutter.
“You! You did the dirty on the communal couch! On Leader’s favourite napping place.”
“I know!” Tama-chan all but wailed.
“I thought you were a good boy.”
I was absolutely gob-smacked. I literally had no words for how grossed out I was. I just walked away. I was in shock…
….I needed to submerge myself in sanitizer.
I was still mumbling about sanitizer as I made my way down the hall. I shivered at the various mental images that accosted my brain. I was never going to be able to look at Tamamori, Miyata or that couch in the same way ever again.
I was forever scared.
“I know your secret~”
I jumped a mile high at the sudden hand on my shoulder. I ripped myself from grasp and turned to face whomever it was that sing-songed in my ear and scared me silly.
Yokoo was leaning against the wall all nonchalant like with a wicked grin gracing his features. I like Yokoo, normally he’s pleasant and calm but right now he looked…his grin was downright creepy.
“One that you think no one knows. But I know.”
“I don’t have any secrets.”
“That’s a lie Nika-chan. You can’t lie to me, I can see right through you!”
I growled in response and turned away from that annoying smirk. I stiffened in surprise as a hand grabbed mine and forced me to stop. Yokoo moulded himself to my back and rested his chin on my shoulder.
“I know lots of secrets. I won’t tell though.”
He tapped my chest with his finger.
“You shouldn’t keep your secrets locked up in here though Nika-chan. Sometimes it makes it easier to read on your face.”
I smothered the squeak that was threatening to reveal itself and shrugged off his touch.
I don’t know what he’s talking about.
A day that had started out so ordinary had quickly soured. Tamamori's confession compounded by Yokoo's teasing had not only squicked me but also put me in a rather foul mood. I was surprised when Senga still insisted on keeping our plans for the evening.
That was the reason I was now lying spread-eagled on my stomach in front of the television in Senga's room. He’s sitting beside me which in itself is a little strange. Normally he would be at least lying beside me but he seemed uncomfortable and tense.
I rolled onto my side so I could see him better after I felt his eyes dart to my prone form for the fifth time in as many minutes.
He sighed and I raised an eyebrow, "What is it Senga?"
"We're friends right?"
"We can tell each other anything right?
I was running at a loss as to where he was taking this.
"We don't have any secrets right?"
I was suddenly plagued by an onslaught of flashbacks from this afternoon and I could hear Yokoo's taunting sing-song ringing in my ears. I suddenly felt hot and I knew I was blushing. I knew that Senga knew I was blushing.
"I have a secret Nika."
"I don't want to keep it a secret anymore but I'm scared to it to you."
I pushed myself up so I was sitting on my knees. He looked up at me through his heavy bangs and I could feel my heart beating faster and faster. My mouth felt dry and my hands were trembling.
I couldn't bring myself to answer. I could feel Senga leaning closer and closer, I couldn't find any words to voice my thoughts. His lips met mine in a whirl wind of a moment, the touch was hesitant and in that half a heartbeat my eyes slid shut and my hand grasped at his collar.
He pulled away and I released a breath I hadn't realised I had been holding.
"I like you."
I slowly opened my eyes; they seemed to be unbearably heavy, to see that Senga had hidden his face in his hands. I let my hand drop from his collar and raised it to ease his hands away from his pink cheeks.
This was the fifth confession I had received this week and it was by far the best.
“I like you too.”
The smile he sent my way at those words made me feel like my heart would burst. He threw himself at me and we toppled backwards and landed in a twisted, tangled pile of limbs with a grunt.
Senga’s laughter rang out and he pressed another kiss to my lips. A kiss I readily returned.
A/N: Gosh…No. 5 was by far the hardest to write O_O; I was hoping to have had this done whilst I was at work, so I could make use of the faster connection speed but alas it wasn’t to be.
